La Chureca

The VAN is on the move again, this time the crew is on a mission to spread the word about a little known place in Nicaragua called La Chureca. La Chureca is hard to describe. It is even harder to comprehend. La Chureca is the city dump of Managua, Nicaragua. Within the dump exists a community who barely survive by scavenging through garbage looking for food and things to sell. Most of the population of La Chureca is made up of small children and adolescents who work up to 12 hours a day just to get by. Drugs, alcohol, prostitution, disease, and poverty are just a few of the main areas of concern. I have never been here and can only imagine what life here is like, I have however experienced this place through the eyes and emotions of Brian Nevins. The topic is really as heavy as it gets and I think Brian has done an amazing job bringing us all a little closer to understand just how lucky we all are. Please visit La Chureca on the Get in the Van site HERE for some pictures and stories of Brian's previous visits and also take a look at the daily postings by Brian of his current visit HERE.

Please, please, please check out LoveLightandMelody.org for a closer look at what life in La Chureca is like and ways you can help make a difference. Last but not least you can share Brian's photos and this website to help raise awareness. I believe that is the over all goal.

The Vans rep Chris rolled through the shop yesterday and brought a grip of goodies with him. Poster, stickers, tees, and hats. I spent this morning tearing some old banners down and hanging a bunch of new ones. We also sat down with Chris and worked on our fall orders. We got some really good shoes and clothing coming for back to school. They have a new shoe coming out called the ERA Pro and I have already ordered two pairs. Thanks for spreading the love Chris!
Classic style with some extra support.

We got a pile of sunnies from Electric too. About 30 new shades to add to the case. Styles and colors for everyone and a bunch of polarized lenses for those who really care about clarity. Here are just a few of some of what we have in stock.

The all new Lovette for the Ladies in a Mint Fade
The Vegus... Baller Status
Hardknox in a rad color way
The Tech XL in Black with a Poly Polarized lens
