The Hampton Sandbar Reclamation Team!!!

They have arrived, and they're hard at work. The crew is doing what they can to get the sand off the wall and back out were it needs to be. This winter piled so much sand and rocks up along the wall that there were a few spots you could walk right off the side walk onto the beach. Usually its at least 10 or 12 stairs down. Hopefully these guys know a thing or two about surfing and leave a nice little trench that will facilitate some shapely sandbars. It is gonna take a lot of digging and pushing to get the beach back to where it was last summer but at least they're getting on it early. The wall has been pretty funky to surf lately so hopefully this helps thing out and the sand fills back in.

That is a serious looking bar guy but i think it needs to be a few more feet to the right...

Paige Hareb... Proper.

At the moment there are two good contests running. The first is the Women's Pro in New Zealand and the second is the O'neill Cold Water Classic in Scotland. The ladies should be starting round 3 today and at the moment my ladies fantasy team is killing it! Steph, Coco, and Paige are all ripping and I bet we'll see all of them move through to the semis. As far as the CWC is concerned the round of 128 has been completed and the round of 96 should be start tomorrow. You can check out the CWC website HERE for the live feed, when it's running, and all the daily highlights. The link to the women's TSB Pro is HERE where you can also find video highlights and live contest feeds.

Following the contest surf theme of the day I found a great article called Everything you wanted to know about the new ASP format over at Surfers Village. They could have called it the new ASP format for dummies because that is what it is. Big changes this year, huge changes next year. Three more events and the field gets cut from 45 surfers to 32. They have also established a world ranking system that ranks everyone on the same scale whether your a pro or an am. In the coming years the system will allow surfers in the QS who are ranking well to bump surfers off the ASP pro tour who are ranking poorly mid year. It's all about getting surfers on the fast track to the pro tour. Check the article out HERE for more details and explanations.
