DECKS FOR DAYS!!!!!!!!!!! Just got all these beauties in! Have a look!

Next up let's talk about the Kelly Slater Wave Company. This is something I just came across today and did a little internet exploration on. It all started when Steve and I were talking about the future of competitive surfing this morning. In our opinion the future is obviously the younger generation surfers like Jordy, Dane, Kohole Andino, Nat Young, and Julian Wilson, there are way more but these are the few that come to mind right now. We were also saying that the progressive type of surfing these guys are doing doesn't lend its self to waves like Pipe and Teahupoo. The tour would need to transition to more waves of the Trestles variety. Which gives way to the real possibility of a new tour. Call it the "Rebel Tour" if you want but just think about a tour full of ripping surfers that are busting crazy airs and insane fins free turns on every wave!

Now there is nothing better than getting a good tube but how many tubes can you really sit and watch during one contest? How many times can you watch Taylor Knox do the same power turn? Now don't get me wrong, Taylor RIPS, but dude throw it in, you're never gonna win a title at this point and if you're not in contention then bow out and give your spot up! This goes for a handful of surfers like the Hobgoods and Roy Powers. Either adapt and progress like Slater and Mick of hit the bricks! The future is kickflips, big spins, flips, and spins so time to have the tour reflect that!

Now back to the Slater Wave Company. There really isn't a lot of information on this but Slater's plan is to bring competitive surfing to pools and to bring it inland! It levels the playing field because every wave will be the same and it will be consistent! Rather than the contest being who gets the best wave it will be who surf the wave best. Imagine a heat where only airs are scored and then the next where only turns are scored. Well you may remember that surf ring I posted on the blog a while ago, well I think that is Kelly's direction and I think Kelly may have even purchased the rights to the "surf ring" technology. He is 97% sure that the wave pool will work and that they will be in major cities around the world as soon as one is built and proven to work. This website HERE pretty much sums it all up and has links to all the info. Also check THIS out, it's a PDF of the Slater Wave Company patent info. There are lots of diagrams and info. Get scientific here and you may learn a thing or two.

So think about it, and then tell me about it by a comment here or on facey spacey!

I broke the surfless streak today and got in the water. Rode the motivator in some little thigh high peaks. Felt so good to back in the water. Looks like we got a Nor'Easter on the way for next. Keep them finger crossed!

MIND SURFING?!?!?!?!

DAY NUMBER 12. NO REAL SURF IN SIGHT. WHAT'S A GUY TO DO???

GO MIND SURFING!!!!!!

Earlier this year Steve and I had an interesting interaction with a roaming soul. We were sitting at the wall contemplating a knee high session when an unfamiliar face told us all about how his mind took him places. That particular day his mind took him to KB's bagels. Now if you know the wall and you know KB's then you know you could throw a baseball from one to the other. But not this man, he was just passing through and had no idea the place existed until his mind took him there!!! So here I sit and I'm trying to get my mind to take me to surf but I am just not having any luck. I keep opening my eyes and I'm still in front of the computer. Next best option is to do a little mind surfing.

There's surfing and then there's mind surfing. Ya know, when you're sitting on the beach watching a wave break innocently and you are imagine all horrifically wonderful things you'd like to do to it. Flying over sections and threading tubes on a metaphysical level. I remember sitting on that beach early in the morning before work with my good friend Stevie, watching perfect knee high zippers and picturing myself as a G.I. Joe sized surfers sitting in the lineup. In my head offering a narrative play-by-play of every wave that dribbled in. "I got this one. I'm hopping to my feet...off the bottom and WHACK float the boat over the next section and free fall into the pit SHWACK under the lip snap." That's how it went. If your mind won't work for you at least make it work. So try it, click the link below and find that perfect shack or that air reverse that's been tormenting you!!!

Last week while the O'Neill Cold Water Classic was in full swing world number 2, Jordy Smith, rolled his ankle playing a little dodge ball. He bowed out of his heat the next day in an effort to heal up for Puerto Rico. The title race has officially come to a Slater vs Jordy show down, although, at this point Jordy is definitely the long shot. The ASP has all the math figured out but the long story short is if Slater earns a 3rd place or higher he will be the new world champion and the only person to hold that title 1o times. Now if Slater doesn't do so well and Jordy can finish with a 3rd or better then we still have a race on our hands. I am really looking forward to this event and would love to see the title race settled at PIPE.
10???
The forecast for the beginning of the wait period looks very similar to ours, flat and uneventful... The Ripcurl Pro Somewhere events have had a streak of insane luck since the event was first held. Could this be the year it all comes crashing down and the ASP boys get skunked??? The Atlantic is quiet and only Davey Jones knows her ways. My suggestion is to adjust your fantasy team and get you small wave and arial rippers ready to go. The whole show kicks off Saturday and I can't wait.

Kick it with Scotty Lago!!!

Here is your chance to meet the MAN, the MYTH, the LEGEND.... Seabrook's Finest SCOTTY LAGO!!! Tomorrow from 7:30 to 9:30 Scotty will be at the Sanborn Regional School in Kingston NH. Scotty will be telling his story and talking about representing the USA at the 2010 Olympics. There will also be a question and answer session to follow as well as some of the highlights to Scotty's bronze medal performance! The event is free and open to all and don't forget to bring some things for Scotty to sign!

We just got a couple of big old boxes from Volcom in today!!! Believe it or not we got TONS of shorts and trunks. You may be thinking isn't winter right around the corner??? Well yes it is but dudes and dudetts it's also the best time of the year to travel!!! So shorts and trunks we got!!! But we didn't just get shorts... we got some awesome hoodies, flannels, and tees!!! Our VOLCOM selection can not be beat!!! It doesn't really matter what time of year it is chances are if you need it and volcom makes it, we got it!

This could be yours....

Just heard the Autumn Bowl is up for grabs, all you need is $15 grand and an "all heart, no brains" mentality because that is what it's going to take to move this thing. Once upon a time I was involved with what we thought would be the easy breakdown and set up of a much smaller bowl. After a day of getting nowhere it was decided that a couple of chain saws and a big old dumpster was the only option. So good luck to who ever takes on the Autumn bowl project!

Just got this video in, been watching it all day. I think I'm ready for a heli mission to AK!

DAY DREAMING OF THINGS TO COME

Day Dreaming of Winter Swells....... p. GITV

By my count today is day 9 with no waves. I was contemplating that fact this morning as the dog and I strolled down the beach. Off in the distance I saw one person suiting up to paddle out. I thought to myself "this dude has GOT to be desperate but I understand his pain", as I got closer I saw the black beauty and new it had to be Ralph getting ready for his daily session. Once at the water's edge he waded in until he was about waist deep, spun around, paddled into a ripple, stood up and walked of the nose of his board onto dry sand. He picked his board up and headed straight back to the car. I'm willing to bet it took him longer to get his suit on then it did to get his session. Turns out this guy wasn't desperate, just committed. Day 92 in the books and I'm the witness. Ralph is the proof that no matter how flat it is you can still surf. Turns out we've all been blowing it for the past 9 days, maybe tomorrow I'll go get one like Ralph but probably not...

When you go as big as Nolan sometimes even pads don't help!!!

A couple of our team skaters had a hard weekend. Manny qualified 6th for the Volcom Damn Am contest but ended up rolling his ankle in the semi final. Nolan was out in Texas for another contest and hit his knee so hard that the whole thing just blew open. The craziest part is that he was wearing PADS!!!! A handful of staples later and he'll live to skate another day! On the up side team riders Eamon, Max, Zach, and Cam all killed it this weekend in the Grom-O-Rama contest. With Max winning the overall in under 13yrs and Eamon winning the overall in the 13+. Making us proud!!

A couple of pictures from one of our favorite couples. Chris and Melinda way South of the Boarder. Looks like fun, we're jealous! Anyone else?

UGG season is FULL ON!!!! If you got someone on your list who wants a pair now is the time. Are selection is on point and we are stocked in the ladies and kids department. We are already selling out of colors in the short and tall classics! Get in now and get yours while we still have some!

Snow Flurries!!!!

Stowe 10-18-2010

I'm not lying, I saw my first snow flurries of the year as I open up the shop this morning! Winter is knocking on our door and there is nothing we can do but submit to it. I've been getting the report from people scattered across northern New England. It's rumored that Jay Peak got a foot plus from our last Nor' Easter and that Stowe got 20 inches. I saw a few pictures of some early season shredding and while I can't say for sure about the 20 inch depth I can say there was enough snow to make a POW TURN! And just as winter begins to make itself know we are fully stocked with everything you'll need to make the most of the season. Snow product from Lib Tech, Gnu, Roxy, and Burton. Hard goods, soft goods, and everything in between. We got a pile of boots at 50% off and we got some left over boards and bindings that we can definitely make you a deal on.

We also have a great selection of cold water gear for the epic winter wave sessions that are on the horizon. Winter suits from Ripcurl and O'niell starting in the neighborhood of $320! 7mm boots and 5mm gloves and you're ready! We also have a great selection of boards that will get you prepared for those raging Nor Easters that you know are on the way. We have some awesome used boards at the moment too so make sure when it's time for new gloves, boots, or a suit you come see us, we'll get you EXACTLY what you need!

And as the outdoor skateboard sessions draw near an end the indoor sessions at Rye are heating up! A new vert ramp is in the works at Rye and the crew at the park is constantly adding new features to keep things fun and interesting. 30 day passes are the deal and if you got a little extra coin the winter pass is where it's at. Wednesday nights have been the nights. Myself, Dean, Nate, Christos, and even the legendary Kenny Sakari all had a great session last Wednesday. If your over 30 you get in for the "Old Man" rate so pad up and come skate with us!

The O'neill CWC is back in action!!! Round 3 is on! Click IT to go live from Santa Cruz. Just heard from the commentators that Jordy is missing his heat due to a Dodge Ball injury he sustained yesterday... I guess that proves that Jordy just wants to have fun. Wonder if he'll be able to surf in PR????

Enjoy the weekend, Think SURF!!!!!!!

Huge News from Rye!!!

This ramp is going to be built at RYE!

Just got off the phone with Beau over at the Rye Airfield and man was he AMPING!!! Here's what he had to say... "HUGE NEWS - We will be building a new vert ramp asap. SO, this weekend is the last weekend of the current ramp. We will begin tearing it down on Sunday evening. The new ramp will be built by November 20th. We are the fortunate recipients of a generous donation that we (Rye) were able to match and the funds are enough to build a new vert ramp to the same specs as what is used for the DEW Tour. More news to come as we get it!" Now personally, I don't skate vert, but this may be enough of a reason to start. We are going to have a DEW TOUR ramp right here in our back yard year round. That is pretty damn awesome! I did a little google homework on what the Dew Tour vert ramp specs are and it appears the ramp is usually 60+ feet wide with big transitions and a couple of feet of vert. Add two 6 foot roll-in on either side and you got yourself one rad piece of wood. The new mini that is tucked in between the vert and clover bowl is going to lose the hip and the spine but the majority of it will stay as is. Have a click HERE to get an idea of what the ramp should look like.

Volcom goes Tavy Trippin' parts 1,2, & 3

New E's and Emerica in today but I can't post any pictures of them because the blogger photo loader is down. I put them up on our facebook page so check them HERE. HSU, G-Code, Reynolds, First blood, Theory 1.5.

Quiksilver Pro and The O'neill Cold Water Classic are both full on right now, check it!

I'm keeping my eye out for surf, haven't seen any yet but as soon as I do you'll be the first to know!

PIONEERS is Lost Surfboard's Shop of Week!!!

We're stoked to be the Shop of the Week over at LOST SURFBOARDS!!! We've been doing business with Lost for quite some time now. We are more stoked than ever on what the boys are doing there. Making rad little boards that work amazing in our less than epic surf conditions. Every time I get on that Motivator of mine I am blown away by the thing. It's not just me either. It's everyone that has bought one from us. If your in the market for a new small wave board this is it!!! In fact I just got a call from Lost, we got a delivery coming in tomorrow. Motivators, Sub Scorchers, and Rockets. I also got a custom order coming as does our buddy Chris Daly (yeah buddy, it's here tomorrow). Like the Lost site says we got a grip of Lost boards, swing by and have a look!!!

Just got an email from our video supplier about the new Jamie O'Brien title. Usually videos featuring just one person are good, just not as good as a video with lots of people. Well the Julian Wilson video was better than expected and judging by the trailer I'm thinking that this new one from J.O.B. is going to be pretty close to epic. As Eric put it "J.O.B. is the Kenny Powers of surfing" If you know who Kenny is then you know what he means, if you don't look him up and you'll get the picture. Most of this movie was shot using the crazy tech RED camera and the video quality is sure to be amazing!!! Look for it next month and check the trailer below.

We just got hit with a bunch of wheels from Spitfire. Both F-1 Street Burners (my personal favorite) and F-1 Park Burners along with a bunch of cool colored and color swirled wheels. There is no argument that Bones and Spitfire make the best wheels in the world. Were pretty
well stocked with them both.

The Ocean is flat, flat, flat right now. I was at the wall this morning skipping rocks and trying to stay warm. 36 degrees is cold!!! A little over a week ago and I was trunking it down in Hatteras, what a cold harsh reality... But anyways looks like me might see a bump for the weekend/beginning of next week. Until then you can find me at the Skatepark. I'll be there with Dean tomorrow night so come over and roll around with us!

380 LBS of Burton

That's what was waiting for me when I arrived at the shop this morning. 12 large boxes of Burton boots and bindings. They're all looking super good! Lots of awesome colors and they are all really affordable. Have a look below, these are about half of the pieces that we got in!!!

Winter with all it's EPICNESS is on the way! Get Stoked, Get Prepared!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some once said "this video reminds me of fall in New England" and I'm going to agree...

Pretty Damn Awesome...

So waves this week??? Not looking good, but possibly waves for the weekend. Either way the Oneill Cold Water Classic in Santa Cruz has begun and the Ripcurl pro starts next week. Check out all the live action HERE from Santa Cruz.
