Waves on the Way

Mornings like this are on they way... get your rubber in order. p. GITV

I didn't surf this morning even though I probably could have. The surf was knee high and clean with only a handful of folks at the wall. I spent my morning playing fetch with the dog on the beach but I got a fun little session last night right before dark which was enough to keep me satisfied until tomorrow. I had the plank with me and it was the call. That board is the ultimate groveler. I haven't rode the longboard since I got it. That statement speaks for itself!

The Quiky Pro is on and round two is close to completion. Right now I'm watching the Dusty Payne vs Chris Davidson heat. I like both of these guys but in this situation I'm pulling for Dusty because he's on my fantasy team! But with only a few minutes left and Dave-O in the lead things are looking questionable. Two heats left before they call it a day so click HERE and catch some live action. If it's alredy over by the time you get to the blog then check out all the highlights HERE. The Andy Irons vs Luke Monroe was the heat of the event thus far so make sure to click on the video below first. Can you say backdoor pipe???

Just in and SO HOT are tons of new Ripcurl watches!!!! Surf in them, wear them to work, take them out on the town. A color and a style for everyone. Five different styles for the ladies and about 10 different styles for the men. These watches were all built for the water and you're not going to find a better surf/tide watch anywhere!!! Check the photos below and make sure to swing through and check these babies out in person!!!

Volcom sent us a restock of an awesome item that we have been backing for a while now. The Volcom Puff Puff Give Jacket is AWESOME. Super light weight and insanely warm. Wear it when you cruising with the homies or under your snowboard jacket on those epicly cold New England shred sessions. The jacket also packs up into a mesh pocket and is easily packed in a backpack or suitcase. Sizes from XXL to Small in black with a few brown ones mixed in there.

The wave forecast is looking good for the weekend. We should have a mid day clean up tomorrow with some really fun leftovers for Saturday, Sunday, and the beginning of the week! Yahoo!!! Remember we are STOCKED with tons of awesome Lost Surfboards and Longboards from Walden, Stewart, and McTavish. And if your current rubber choice just ain't getting it done we've got a solution!! Get Stoked and get some!!!

So Much STUFF!!!!

p. GITV

So first off my apologies for the lack of blogs lately. This past weekend I was down in central Mass sitting behind a desk. The past few days we have received SO MUCH new stuff and I've been so busy sorting through it all that I haven't had the opportunity to sit down and write a blog until now. As sad as it is to say summer is pretty damn close to being over... and because of that fact we have officially begun making the transition to fall and winter gear. As if they knew it was time to make the change over a dozen boxes showed up from Burton and Volcom and I can safely say we're stocked once again with all the raddest stuff. New jackets, pants, beanies, gloves, sock, and thermals are in for the ladies, kids, and men. Here are a few photos to get you thinking and as time goes by I will highlight some of my favorite pieces.

Men's Dazed Jacket
Men's Roadhouse 5 Pocket Pant
Men's Verses Jacket
Men's Straight Leg Pant
Women's Hoffman Insulated Jacket
Women's Pedestal Pant
Women's Hoffman Insulated Jacket
Women's Pedestal Pant
Youth Ripper Jacket
Youth Disturbance Insulated Pant
Youth Blaster Jacket
Youth Disturbance Insulated Pant

Just in from Video Action Sports is our first shipment of snowboard DVDs. At the moment we are currently stocked with NOWHERE, F_ _ _ IT!, In Color, and Left Brain Right Brain. I've watch all the trailers and these four are some of the year's best!

The heavy rubber is also making it's way downstairs too. The gloves and mitts are on the shelves and 3mm, 5mm, and 7mm booties are patiently waiting for your arrival. We have also sent the shorty suits packing and in their place you'll now find the new Ripcurl Insulator 5/4 the Oneill 6/5/4 Heat and the Oniell Psycho Freak 5.5/4.5. Winter and the cold are no match for the proper gear!
O'Neill Psycho Freak 5.5/4.5
O'Neill Heat 6/5/4
Ripcurl Insulator 5/4 available for men and women

The Quiksilver Pro in France kicked off this past weekend in some pumping beach break. The condition were fair and there was something on offer for everyone. Pumping tubes, performance oriented walls, and suicide closeouts! The contest is currently on hold due to small inconsistent surf but things are looking promising for tomorrow and Friday. The fantasy team is holding strong as 6 of my 8 team members have already advanced to the third round. My wildcard pick, Maxime Huscenot, was defeated by Slater in the second round and Dusty Payne is up against Chris Davidson as soon as round two begins to run again. Jordy is surfing really well but for me the standout surfer of the event thus far has been Owen Wright. Check out the heat below!

and here are the highlights from day one of competition.

Thrasher's King of the Road is getting ready to roll. Check all the hype, highlights, and interviews here. The line up is the Nike team vs the Converse team vs the Etnies team vs the Circa team. My predictions is for the Nike Team to own it. But check it all here and make your own predictions. The vans get rolling on the 30th so stay hyped!!!

And before I'm done for the day lets talk waves! Small scale today and tomorrow morning. Strong south wind starts to blow mid day on Thursday and waves build through the night. Waves should start cleaning up Friday and be fun all day with some fun leftovers for the weekend. SURFING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RipCurl Insulators for the Groms!!!

Gavin checking it hard in his new rubber!!!

As soon as I saw the red and black Insulator I knew it had to be for James

That's right we got the best little dude 4/3s in the business in. Steve got both of his boys new Insulators and my good buddy Chance got one too. Steve has always said his boys could be models and well I guess this could be their first gig. The kids Insulator has all the same features as the adult models do. This suit rocks and both Steve and I love it and now his boys do to. They be surfing into December with dad this year. These photos were taken yesterday when most of us skipped the surf because it was to small. For the boys it was pumping and perfect. It's only a matter of time now and they be following in dad's footsteps and they'll be surfing circles around all of us!

Dad taught him well, James grabbing that rail and stalling for the shack!

Gavin flying down the line and preparing to punt a little air on that close out section!!!

And while we're on the Rip Curl kick check out this page HERE chronicling the 6 month surf trip called Tip 2 Tip. You could easily waste half your day clicking through this site. Live the Search!!!

ALEX GORDOROUS, he gets it... Dylan Rieder on Epicly Later'd. His Gravis promo is amazing and this is sure to be equally as rad!

New Lost Surfboards!!!!!!!

Well I'm not gonna lie, I was hoping for more than knee high sets this morning. But knee high sets are waves and when you got a Plank anything is possible plus, after Monday and Tuesday I got nothing to complain about! So that's what is on offer this morning, winds are steady out of the South West and should stay that way for the rest of the day. So if you haven't got enough in the past week there is still time to get some more!!! The extended forecast isn't looking to promising at the moment. Tropical storm Lisa is spinning in the Atlantic but at this time it's doubtful that she will reach hurricane status or throw us any swell. Hopefully things change but at his point it's just wishful thinking.

On a radder, more upbeat note we just got in some new LOST SURFBOARDS!!!!! Today's shipment consisted of 4 custom orders and some Motivators, Scorchers, F-1 Stubs, and a Matt Biolis custom shaped MEGA MOTIVATOR. This board is shaped specifically for a bigger guy (for Matt Biolis). It's dimentions are 5'10 x 21.5 x 2.75 and it aims to please. Come check this creation out in person. Here are a few of the boards we got in below.

This is the Scorcher and it is one of Lost's most popular models at this time. Local ripper Casey Lockwood has a custom 5'10 out back waiting to get picked up and I've talked to a few other people that have ridden the board and they are loving them.

So you've heard me talk about this board before. The Motivator is hands down my favorite board. I've talked a few people into picking one of these up and I've heard nothing but good things. I'm surfing it on thigh high waves and I'm surfing it on head high plus waves. Points to beach breaks this board has me MOTIVATED to surf. Our good friend Erica has a beautiful little 5'10 waiting for her out back that I can't wait to see her rip around on. And Larry if you're reading this I got a 6'6 in that would blow your mind!

The F-1 Stub is a new one in the Lost line up this year. This performance shortboard features a slightly lowered entry rocker and a bump hip in the tail which makes this board excel in average surf! This ones for the shred lords!!!!!!

Just found this rad video with Buxton NC local Brett Barley documenting hurricane Earl. Life on the banks during hurricane season can be a little dicey to say the least. Brett is at home in the hollow brown waves of NC, he surfed in the Pipe Masters last year and did pretty damn good for an east coast boy. I'm heading down here in less than two weeks and I hope I get to see a few waves like these with my own two eyes.

Remmy Stratton was hanging out here last year when the Volcom tour rolled through. Such a nice dude and an unreal skater. We got one of his autographed boards hung up in the dressing room. Check it!!!

MORE UGGS IN STOCK TODAY. Get them now while you can!!!!!!!!

You Know the Ones...

Well I don't know about you but I got some fun ones this morning!!! There is nothing better than head high groundswell and offshore winds first thing in the morning. I had a great 2 hour session this morning that left me a little sore but extremely satisfied. I love working on days like today because everyone that swings by the shop is still glowing from the session they just had. You know the ones because they are smiling from ear to ear and their eyes are blood shot from all the salt water that has been forced into them. There hair is a little messy and their stoke is contagious. You can't help but swap stories about the best wave of the session or the pounding you took when that late drop went wrong. It's been busy here today because there has been a lot of stoke sharing and that's why this blog is a little later then usual, but the folks who are still rolling in are telling me it's still waist plus and fun. Winds blowing a little out of the south but I am confident there will be a few left for me when I shut the shop down in another hour.

I know I talked about how cold it was yesterday morning in my last blog but today it was even COLDER this morning. 48 degrees!!!! Good thing the flannel was on and my 4/3 and boots where in the car. It's also a good thing that we have TONS of wetsuit booties in stock now. I pretty much have to replace those things every year. I either loose one over the summer or I put them away wet and when it comes time to break them out again they smell like dead things and look like a science experiment. But new boots are the best and totally worth the yearly investment. My pick right now would be the Ripcurl 3mm hidden split toe or the Oneill 3mm round toe boot. Warm, comfy, and grippy!!! That's what it's all about.

We also got a really rad new boot in from Ugg today. Its the new women's Belfair and we have it in stock in charcoal. This is a calf height, waterproof boot made from full grain leather. Inside is a breathable E-Vent membrane and a genuine sheepskin lining and insole that will keep you warm and dry in the snow and rain. And a cork infused molded rubber outsole will give you plenty of traction in the ice and snow conditions that you know winter will bring.

So waves tomorrow???? I hope so. I'll be checking it hard trying to find a few. Get up early and maybe I'll see you out there!

Let's Go SURFING!!!!!!!

p. GITV

What's up Pioneers???? Did you get some waves this weekend? Today? Are you going to get some tomorrow? I hope so, Igor is pulsing and throwing some fun ones our way! As of 2pm we are looking at chest to head high sets with occasional bombs. Wind is light north and is forecasted to start going a little more westerly this evening. Tuesday morning has some more fun ground swell sets with light WNW winds. SO GET UP EARLY AND GO SURF!!! The swell forecast isn't to promising for the future so you all better get while the gettings good!

If your following the ASP tour than it's old news that Slater defeated Bede Durbridge in the finals at Trestles this weekend. The surf was insane and Slater is in top form. With this win and Jordy's 5th place finish Slater is back on top and holding a 5000 point lead. Taj, Dane, and Mick are just behind and battling for the third spot. I've said it already but Slaters win here pretty much sums it up. He's on, there is no taking this one away from the man. Slater is on his way to number 10. He surf beach break with the best of them and with Hossegor starting in only 5 days i would be surpised if Slate didn't finish in the top 8. Stay glued into it and I'll update you when the webcast from France goes live! Until then check out the highlights from Trestles below!

It was 52 degrees this morning when I woke up. Flannel, hoodie, and a beanie was the call for the 6:30 am surf check. The 4/3 was the call for the surf session. The O'neill Mutant and the Ripcurl Insulators are in. They're here and ready for you. Remember both of these suits have a removable hood that affords you a lot of versatility with your rubber. Gonna are the days of dealing with hooded vest and being cold. These suits rule, I Promise!!! Now is the time, 4/3 weather is knocking on the door! Answer it with a new Mutant or Insulator!!!

And while we are on the topic of cold weather, I just wanna let you know that our hoodie, flannel, and beanie selection is rocking right now!!! The best of the best from Volcom, Vans, Nixon, and Matix. We've also been getting a bunch of snowboard outerwear in also. The new Volcom stuff looks INSANE and our burton gear should be hear in another couple weeks. We slowly making the transition to snowboard land and we should have all the epic new gear out in the next couple weeks. Make sure you swing by to get first dibs on all the hotness!!!

New Theeve Trucks in too! The Jay Lay color way is dope!!!

SKATE TEAM NEWS!!! When Dave isn't winning local skate contests (Andover Shop Contest, Pioneers claimed the GOLD!!!) with Manny and Nora he's hanging in Texas with the Think crew. Check it HERE.

A Pair of Fours!!!

What's Up Gang!!!! Well as you all read on the last blog Sunday night we partied, and we partied hard. Jessica and I finally tied the knot after almost 8 years. Our wedding was everything we could have hoped for, it truly was the the best night of both of our lives!!! We had a huge buffet of bar-b-que and our favorite band, Todo Bien, played an epic set that we will never forget. Set on the sea and surrounded by our friends and family we both said "I do".We got a lot of good wishes in the past few weeks and I just wanted to thank everyone for those. The new wife and I are taking a few days to hang with our families and we'll be heading to the Outer Banks of NC for our honeymoon come October.

Life was pretty crazy most of last week and this week but I finally got to get some surf with the family and look at the forecast. It was quite the surprise when I jumped onto the Hurricane Center website and saw a pair of category 4 hurricanes heading our way. Seriously, when did that happen. Igor is looking good and packing some punch. We might even start to see waves from him tomorrow evening and if not hopefully some point friday. Following close behind we have another little storm called Julia. She's strong but far away so we'll have to sit tight and see what happens. Waves are a sure thing and will be here for the weekend so get stoked and get ready to get some.

I spent some time in the water today with my parents dog. Her name is Lola and she is a chesapeake bay retriever. She loves the water more than any other dog I have ever met. I had the 11'0 NSP at the beach and I tossed the dog on the board, paddled out, and caught a wave. No problem at all Lola and I must have caught 10 waves today. People we shooting photos and cheering us on. It was pretty damn fun and I can't wait to get her back out there tomorrow. One thing I will say is that that water is cooling off. My recommendation is to swing by the shop and check out one of the new 4/3 wetsuits that we have in stock. Today I was in the O'Neill Mutant and tomorrow I will be in the RipCurl Insulator. These are the two best 4/3 suits on the market when it comes to versatility and price!!!!

While you're there make sure you check out the new 7S Superfish that we just got in stock. It is a colab between 7S and The Sea Shepherd. It's rad!!!! 20 percent of the proceeds go to the Sea Shepherd so they can continue to help protect our oceans. Check out all the photos and info on the board HERE.

We're partying tonight..

Today is the day!! Tonite is the night. It's all going down. Two local surfers, a local band, along w/ a local setting. If you haven't figured it out by now I'm talking about Jess and Bryan tying the knot tonight at Odiorne Point. Myself, Heather, the boys and all the customers and employees here at Pioneers wish them the best and may they score many sessions together along the way... I here Todo Bien will be providing the music and Buck is going to say some words about the couple (that should be entertaining) and then a honeymoon get away to the Outer Banks. Remember those days? I'm jealous! I can't wait to see Bryan mowing the lawn w/ Jess in the garden and little toe heads running around. Ahh marriage. It's GOOD!!

In other news the shop is closing at 4:00pm today so we can go get down w/ Jolin and Johnson families and friends. Can't wait!!

Hurley Pro starts today catch all the action live here

Earl sure did light the East Coast Up!!!!

Kolohe Andino on his way to a win in NY

Seeing a short window of opportunity the Unsound Pro Junior, held at Long Beach just outside of New York City, had a marathon one and done day of competition. Wrong coast heavy Kolohe Andino made the best of the 1 to 3 foot peaky swell and and earned top honors. Stoked for Kolohe for two reasons; one he rides for Lost surfboards (and was riding what the announcers were calling a "magic board" and by the way we stock those here @ pioneers) two he is one of my wildcard picks for trestles, which starts on the 12th of September.

The Hurley Pro at Trestles marks a new era on the ASP tour as the field of competitors has been cut from 44 to 32. On top of having less surfers in the event they will also be running the competition in a new format. For more info on that check the ASP website HERE. Surfline is forecasting some some promising swell and with a title race that is really heating up this event should be a good one. Steve and I were kicking around ideas and we both came to the conclusion that as much as we would like to see Jordy take the World Title this year the cold hard truth is that Kelly Slater is the best competitor and that he is so close there is now way he is going to let title number 10 slip away. So there it is, that's my prediction. Sl9ter will become S10TER at the Pipeline Masters this December. I'm open to opinions and would love to hear then via comments here on the blog or on our Facebook page.

Frame page 18 of 26 is astounding. Jesse Hines getting shacked of his ass!!! HERE in Earl part one featuring PR to OBX. Now Check Earl part two, Delaware to Maine HERE. Highlight here is frame number 2 of 24 pictured above. The quote says it all, "Adrian Colaprete samples one before a sandy hole swallowed him, KO'd him, stripped him naked, and left him bleeding and unconscious in the shorebreak."

New Videos in today!!! Scratching the Surface the new Julian wilson film is in and it's epic!!! We also got restock on alot of things we were low on. Stay Gold and Scratching the Surface... Two Must Haves!!!!!!!

Little long range groundswell sets late today and tomorrow??? Hopefully knee high maybe even a little better. It's kind of a long shot but it's a possibility! Keep and eye on it and keep an eye on Igor, the newly named tropical storm that is currently forming in the Atlantic.

Remember tonight Stay Gold at the Portsmouth Music Hall and on Saturday the East Coast Premier of NoWhere the newest snowboard film from Absinthe Films. Both are sure to be EPIC. Get warmed up with a little taste from the flipside...
