Bells Beach Pro Wrap Up

Bells was firing and the boys were in form yesterday!  The competition was fierce and there were some epic battles in the water.  However, in the end only one man could ring the BELL and that honor was earned by Mick Fanning! All of the quarter finalists gave it 100% but the semis came down to Slater vs Flores and Mick vs Parko.  Mick ultimately won be defeating Slater in a close fiery heat. And when I say close I mean it, it really could have went either way. If you check the comments below the video you'll see what I mean. A bunch of people think Slater won this heat and I've got someone in front of me telling I should call this blog "Do the Judges Always Give the Locals the Nod??" Give it a watch, let me know your thoughts!

As far as the Pioneers Fantasy Surfer Club goes we had some position shifts and some new players emerge in the top ten. Jon Mackin played a tight game and while he did not win Bells, in the clubhouse he does still maintain the top spot. Out of nowhere Brian Parrot locked in a 956 coming from way behind to secure 2nd place in the club house as well as the prestigious Bells Beach Pro banner donated by Ripcurl.  Brian you are welcome to swing by whenever to claim your prize!  Other honorable mentions go to morningglass and stinkbeard the cook for also scoring in the excellent range with 900s. Now we've only got 33 days till the event, stay stoked and remember we're still shooting for you Jon!!!

Make sure you check out all the highlights and news coverage at Live.Ripcurl.com.

Slater and Fanning surfed a great contest. In the final it was so close. Although purely in technique I think Slater won it. Fanning fell on his last move of his 9something wave, seemed a bit of gracious scoring on the judges part.

Having said that, Fanning was on fire the whole contest and was the most fun to watch. His passion was unreal.
