So who the hell is Raoni Monterio???? You know the guy who came out of nowhere and won the O'neill World of Surfing at Sunset. Raoni hails from Brazil and has been working his ass off on the WQS for years and to win an event in Hawaii was huge for him. His win gave him a major boost in the World ranking system and we will probably see Raoni at some of the ASP stops in 2011. With two events down and one left to go in the triple crown Joel Parkinson and Julian Wilson are neck and neck for the Triple Crown Title. Next stop PIPE, this is where it will all be.
Now I'm not sure if you saw who won the Women's Sunset title but Steve and I both saw it coming! Tyler Wright, event wildcard, owned it! Her win moved her into the lead for the triple crown and demonstrated she'll be a force on the Womens ASP tour in 2011. Coco Ho, Steph Gilmore, Alana Blanhcard, and Tyler Wright will have one heat at Pipeline to battle it out for the Triple Crown Title. Definitely looking forward to that.
I wrote about the Kelly Slater Wave Company before and now there's more info and a website in the works. This is really happening. I can't wait to see how it works. Check it out HERE.
POWELL PERALTA is back, and they're about to make a documentary about how it all got started! This is going to be RAD and Powell Peralta is going to come back and give it hell. Mike V just signed back on and the Powell Peralta team is getting stronger! Nolan Monroe just spent two weeks bumming around California with the team. Nolan is skating so good and I can't wait to see some footage from the trip.
Steve and I are in the shop till 7pm tonight. If you need anything or you're looking to get some X-mas shopping done we're here to help. Swing through and say hello!
