The Swell That Never Was

This is where the waves are...

I've awoken the past two days in a row expecting some waves and when I say waves I'm talking about some waist plus groundswell. Well two days in a row now and I've only managed to find a couple thigh high ones at best. So my big question is where the hell did the waves go??? The buoys have been showing waves for the past two days, good waves. Between 3 and 4 feet @ 11 seconds or so and that usually mean waist plus sets. My initial reaction was that there was too much south in the swell and it's just missing us. That however, is not the case because I've been checking the cams and buoys up north and they're not getting it either. So I've decided the only reasonable explanation is that there is some type of giant whirlpool/vortex in the middle of the Gulf of Maine that is sucking all the swell in. I've been scouring recent satellite images but haven't found the vortex yet. But rest assured as soon as I find that wave stealing S.O.B. you'll be the first ones to know about it... Until then enjoy the knee high ones.

While Jordy ended up in 2nd place this may be the best turn of the YEAR!

So ASP tour rookie and Huntington Beach local Brett Simpson claimed victory yesterday at the US Open of Surfing. This was his second win here and he did it back to back. The only two other people to hold that record are Tom Curren and Occy. Simpson made a bit of history for himself here and we'll have to see if he can carry that momentum back to the next 5 stops of the ASP Tour. The skate contest that was held in conjunction with the US Open was just as epic. The highlights from both are worth watching and you can find it all right HERE.

We got more MATIX today and the stuff looks so good!!!! Super rad military style jacket in black and green. A bunch of flannels, tees, hoodies, belts, wallets, and socks!!!!! Check some of the photos!!!

We just got the Walden Mega Magic back in stock last week and we have already sold two. Only two left, and 7'2 and an 8'0. Everyone who has picked up one of these babies has called us or stopped in after their first session to thank us and tell us how good the board works. It's legit, the thing rips. Come check them out!!!

There is still the possibility of some waves making their way in. Don't plan on anything special but keep and eye on the cams and your fingers crossed. If something does happen out there will be in the water with you for sure!!!!
