Day One

Picture perfect... p. GITV

Well gang this past weekend was a good one. The Pioneers crew was up and at it early!!! Our 7am beach sweep was one of our best ever. Tons of people made it down and we picked up alot of trash! Vans provided a bunch of gear and everyone left with something. After the beach was cleaned most of us jumped in and grabbed a few little peelers just to start the day off right! The shop was cranking all day, tons of folks in and out both on their way to surf and skate. As soon as the lights to the open sign were extinguished we were off to New Market to help our good friends Todo Bien celebrate the release of their new full length album. It was a great time and the music was great. I can't wait for the private show in September. We have a few copies of the new CD here at the shop so if you missed the show hurry over and ask for one, we'll hook it up.

Yesterday was one of those days that just ruled! Little waves, tons of sunshine, and not a whole lot to do. I spent a bunch of time in the water and kickin it with the homies. It felt so good to just trunk it on the 10'0 and not really have a care in the world. My girl, Jess, has been riding one of my lost fishes and things are really starting to click for her. She managed to catch a handful of wave and her stoke was contagious!!! My biggest accomplishment of the day was managing to stay sunburn free, epic!

I got while the getting was good this morning and scored really good longboard waves. Thanks to the 10'0 Stewart today was another fun day of waves. It was also an important day for one of Hampton's finest. For most people the first of the year is January 1st, but for Ralph, today is the first day of his year. Today was day number 1 of 365 days of consecutive surf. That's right, starting today Ralph will be surfing no matter what for the next year. His brand new black beauty in hand and a bunch of groms to send him off, Ralph got the first of many waves. His mission is to raise money for the Molly Rowlee Foundation and to remember all those that we have lost to cancer. Check CatchaWaveforMolly.com for all the info and follow Ralph's journey through Ralph'sPic.com.

Who's game?

I know I already blogged about the new Taylor Steel film Castles in the Sky but I just want to say WOW one more time... Iceland, I want to know you... Get your copy here!

Every once in a while the water gets so clear and so warm I have to just stop and admire it. Today was one of those days... This photo, like the ones above, were taken this morning by GITV and this is really how the water looks. No photoshop, no color added, the water really is this epic right now. If you didn't know any better you might just think this was somewhere tropical but it's not, it's home. Appreciate it!!!

This is SKATEBOARDING!!!!!!!
